A Tainan institution – Beef Soup. You would find a beef soup restaurant\/vendor almost at every block in Tainan. The reason why Tainan is so famous for beef soup is because all of the Taiwanese beef is none frozen and cut from fresh. You can taste the simple delicious flavour of the beef quite easily, and you would find even though they are all called beef soup, every store tastes quite different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is harder to see this kind of quality Taiwanese beef in Taipei due to the fact that it is not easy to preserve fresh beef and ship from the south to the north. Wen Zhang Beef Soup is one of the famous beef soup restaurant in Tainan. I will, without fail, eat this each and every time I come back to visit Tainan<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.
I will almost certainly come here for a bowl, and I will almost certainly head to \u516d\u5343\u725b\u8089\u6e6f<\/span><\/a> <\/strong>for a second bowl, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beef soup restaurants\/vendors normally opens in the late afternoon or late evening and serve until the following day’s noon. A lot of people would have it for breakfast, or the late night snack. You would find a lot of places would give you a bowl of rice for free to go with the beef soup (If you still want to eat something afterwards, you can ask the owner to not give you the free rice, or just ask for less rice). Wen Zhang Beef soup used to offer free rice to go with the soup, but now you have to order the rice separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wen Zhang Beef Soup’s menu is perhaps one of those menus where you could order anything and it would be delicious. It was 07:00 when we got there (even though on Google Maps it says it was closed at that time), so we weren’t about to go all-out this early on.
We made sure we ordered some rice with pork gravy, and two bowls of luxurious fresh beef soup.
(I have ordered the beef gravy over rice before, but I thought the spices overpowered the beef flavour a bit too much).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You’re lucky here in that a bowl of rice or rice with gravy will be given to you with any order of soup – WIN!

It’s just the kind of fatty goodness you want when you wake up. No, bear with me on this, really!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fresh beef, you’re not going to find any of that frozen beef down here! Thinly sliced from a beautiful slab of beef, then dropped into the hot bowl of soup and left to cook whilst travelling to your table. The beef remains perfectly delicate and succulent at Wen Zhang Beef Soup , bursting with flavour each time you chew down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also have other beef stir fry including fried rice, veg and beef, and braised beef. Order yourself a beef feast and enjoy the delicious beef!

Absolutely make sure to check Beef Soup off the list when you’re down in Tainan, you won’t regret it!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
